About Digital India Dialogue Series for Leaders
COVID is changing the socio-economic environment worldwide. With a complete breakdown of supply chains, and reduced industrial production, the economy needs to be supported in multiple ways. Governments face new challenges in reviving the economy; protecting lives, livelihoods, and citizen welfare; and rebuilding national competitiveness.
COVID-19 has accelerated digital transformation. It has reaffirmed the need to adopt digital technologies. Research also highlights the importance of emerging technologies – such as AI, blockchain, Internet-of-Things (IoT) and 5G – in building a stronger and more prosperous future. These innovations allow governments to build capacity; to leverage data to predict and respond to challenges such as epidemics and cyberattacks; to tackle infrastructure issues for equitable growth; and to deliver better and more inclusive public services.
Thus the need to revitalize the digital economy and build capacities to not miss these opportunities is of utmost importance. To this end, the crucial first step is building digital readiness on technologies like AI, IoT, 5G among government leaders and policy makers enabling them to realize the gains of adopting and implementing digital solutions for multiple challenges.
Programme
To expand digital readiness amongst government leaders and policy practitioners, National e-Governance Division (NeGD), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, Intel, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have come together to conduct a series of webinars for Government Leaders and relevant stakeholders within government under the aegis of Digital India Dialogues Building Capacities.
The series will cover various themes under emerging technologies (AI, Blockchain, IoT etc.) with a focus on sector-specific areas, international and domestic use cases, and best practice examples. The sessions will aim to highlight the potential usage of AI and other emerging technologies. In particular, the series will explore the role of these innovations in enabling effective and future policy making, driving better public engagement, and ensuring successful government in the new normal.
